It has been a year since that terrible disaster struck Japan last March 11th,2011! All of our deepest thoughts go to the Tohoku region and all the Japanese people. Japan is facing still its biggest crisis, politically, economically and of the course the serious nuclear crisis. To commemorate together, I am re-posting this mix I did a year ago to Pray for Japan. Let’s keep helping and support Japan! We must not forget. Now is the time to think about the after reconstruction and the future of Japan.

去年の2011年3月11日に東北を襲った大震災から1年が立ちました! NYCから東北と日本の皆さんに心から強い思いと祈りをお送り致した。日本は未だに、政治、経済そして原発の最大な危機を向かえてます。ここで改めて1年前に作った「Pray For Japan mix」をもう一度アップします。忘れては行けないです。サポートを続けて行きましょう。そして復興と日本の将来について考えて行くことが大切です!

In NYC I attended yesterday the 1st anniversary memorial “Together for 3.11″ organised by the great active japanese singer AK.

昨日はNYCで日本人の歌手であるAKがオーガナイズ&司会を勤めた今回の東北大震災の1周忌の追悼式「Together for 3.11」に行って来ました!

I visited and played in the cities of Morioka and Sendai, 2 cities I know well with great (music) friends, 3 months after the disaster. My friend Hiroki Sato in Sendai drove me to the devasted coast 30min from the centre of Sendai. I have never seen with my own eyes something that horrible. It was so schocking, I was breathless!! We had a great intimate party after on a Monday at club SHAFT.

震災3ヶ月後に、多くの(音楽)仲間&ファミリーがいる、盛岡と仙台でプレイしました。仙台の友達であるサトウ・ヒロキ君と仙台市から車で約30分にある被災地を回りました。それは自分の目で見たことがなかった言葉では語れないとてもショッキングな光景でした!その夜仙台のクラブShaftで小さい規模のとてもいいパーティをやりました。

A lot of demonstations are happening this week end all over Japan. It is so important to commemorate and also to raise our voices and demonstrate to fight for ourselves for a better, brighter new Japan! The people of Tohoku have been so strong and so brave. The government of Japan and its system has failed in the handling of this whole crisis. This is is the very sad reality. There is no more trust in the establishment. I am mixed with all kinds of different feelings but I believe in the Japanese people!

今週末日本全国で多くのデモ、100万人デモが行われています。追悼することはもちろんとても大切ですが、同時に明るい新しい将来の日本のために戦って声を出して行くこともとても重要です! 東北の人々はとても勇気があって強いです。しかし震災後の日本の政府の対応はあまりにも最悪です。とても悲しい現実です。政府に対する信頼と期待がないです。自分の中に色々な感情が混ざってます。日本人の心を信じてます!

We are still living in Japan in Radioactivity danger! Sakamoto Ryuichi, his entourage and a lot of japanese artists like the japanese architect Shigeru Ban are very active on the ground supporting the Tohoku region! This is a beautiful cover version of Kraftwerk “Radioactivity” which means a lot.

I just arrived early this morning in Tokyo from San Francisco. I was sad to leave California. We spend 10 great days in San Francisco, Sacramento and Los Angeles for our X’mas and New Year’s holidays. The NYE party at the warehouse party Music For Dancers with Dj Spun (Rong Music) in downtown LA was MAGIC! We stopped the music at noon. Definitely one of those special moments in time. Thank you so much Cali! I hope to be back soon. I feel it is going to be a great year!!

Sorry for the very late update once again. I have been on the road non stop and those past couple of months went really fast. It is good to be home in NYC for the Thanksgiving holidays to be with friends, to relax a bit and to enjoy NYC!

Let’s rewind. I was invited to DJ early March for the very 1st nublu jazz festival in Istanbul, Turkey. It was my first trip in Istanbul and I am not about to forget it! The nublu jazz festival Istanbul took place from March 4th to March 12th at Istanbul’s no.1 live venue Babylon and nublu Istanbul in the old historic center Beyoglu of Istanbul on the European side. I have been a regular at nublu in New York for couple of years now and for this special occasion nublu’s boss and the excellent multi instrumentalist Ilhan Ersahin originally from Turkey invited to join them and to play on March 5th at Babylon with the very good band JUNIP lead by one of my fave musician Jose Gonzalez. Their show was very good, kind of psychedelic, going beyond the one dimensional Jose Gonzalez’ laidback accoustic guitar and vocal vibe.

今年の3月の頭にIstanbul, トルコでの初となるnublu jazz festivalにDJで招待されました。忘れられない始めてのIstanbul, トルコ旅行でした! nublu jazz festivalは3月4日から3月12日までIstanbulのヨーロッパ・サイドの中心Beyoglu地区にあるIstanbulの一番のライヴ&音楽会場Babylonと横にあるnublu istanbulで開催された。NYCのnubluではここ数年レギラーでDJをしていて、この特別な機会にnubluのボス&マルチ・ミュージシャンであるトルコ出身のIlhan Ersahinから招待されて、今回のフェスティヴァルのメイン・アクトを担当するお気に入りのミュージシャンJose Gonzalezが率いる大好きなバンドJUNIPの3月5日のBabylonでのライヴでのDJに呼ばれた。JUNIPのライヴは、Jose Gonzalezの普段のアクスティック・ギター&ヴォーヴァルのスタイルを遥かに超えて、サイケな感じに展開して、とても良かったです!

It was great to catch up and hang out with my old friend from school in Tokyo, now a famous highly respected DJ, Dj Yakuza from Istanbul, a resident at the elegant restaurant/bar/club LUCA in the North of Istanbul in Bebek where I played the 1st night to a more fashionnable crowd.

東京に住んでいた学生時代の友達、今はIstanbulのトップDJとして知られる、Istanbul出身のDj Yakuzaと再会して、一緒に時間が過ごせてとても良かったです。Dj Yakuzaは、僕が初日にプレイしたIstanbulの北にあるBebek地区のお洒落なレストラン/バー／クラブLUCAでレジデントを努めてます。

Istanbul is a truly unique, rich and beautiful city at the crossroads of so many different cultures and religions with a very long history, also the only metropolis situated on 2 continents, Europe and Asia surrounded by Bosphorus and the Golden Horn. It was really fascinating! I was completely mesmerised!! I really felt in another world in the heart of the old meets the new modern world.

Istanbulは長い歴史を持つ様々な文化や宗教の中間に立つ実に素晴らしいユニークで活気がある大都市で、BosphorusとGolden Hornに囲まれた、ヨーロッパとアジアの2つの大陸を挟む世界唯一の大都市です。とても興味深いエキサイティングな場所です! 古代文明とモダン文明のど真ん中にいてまさに別世界にいる感じがしました。

Indonesia New Year: I was invited to DJ in Indonesia, in Bandung at the club Maja House for New Year’s Eve. We decided to visit first the old city and the political and cultural centre of Java Yogyakarta.

インドネシア、BandungにあるクラブMaja Houseでの大晦日のパーティにブッキングされて、数日前にJava島の古くからの政治と文化の首都であるYogyakartaに。

The magnificent Borobudur bouddhist temple at sundawn! One of the true architectural wonders of the world. A magic moment!

朝日のBorobudur寺院! 最も美しい世界遺産です。本当にマジックでした! 感動しました。

A jatilan celebration in the gardens of the Pra Banang temple.The music is some hypnotic groovy gamelang music witn a real western-style drummer with on top some beautiful sweet female chanting, totally reminiscent of some of Can’s music, it totally blew me away!

I joined Taro in the beautiful tropical southern city of Miyazaki in Kyushu for our 2nd timewarp party at club Labo. Miyazaki is known for its shochu, poultry, its beautiful nature and sea, its power spots with its shrines and temples, it is where according to the Japanese mythology the Goddess of the Sun Amaterasu comes from,.

Troop Cafe in Kobe has become one of my favorite club in Japan. I played this time time with FOOG and we went really deep and underground the whole night. A truly special, fresh and pure experience I haven’t felt in Japan for a while. The great Troop Cafe resident DJ Terry at Strada Records.
